Unfortunately we are forced to postpone this concert to a later date.
The Passion of Christ, composed in 1914 by Sir Arthur Somervell, is an oratorio that seamlessly connects in structure to the traditional Baroque passions with recits, arias and chords, yet impressively elaborated in the British Romantic style.
This rarely performed work, originally composed for organ, choir and solos, was innovatively orchestrated for this performance by the Flemish composer Nicolas De Cock for extensive orchestra. His song cycle 'Gorgeous Nothings' for soprano, choir and orchestra is the first part of this haunting concert.
